Allergy Treatment
An allergy test is an exam to determine if your body has an allergic reaction to a known substance. The exam can be in the form of a blood test, a skin test, or an elimination diet.
Allergies occur when your immune system, which is your body’s natural defense, overreacts to something in your environment. For example, pollen, which is normally harmless, can cause your body to overreact. This overreaction can lead to:
- a runny nose
- sneezing
- blocked sinuses
- itchy, watery eyes

Anxiety
Anxiety is defined by the American Psychological Association (APA) as “an emotion characterized by feelings of tension, worried thoughts, and physical changes like increased blood pressure.” It affects approximately 40 million Americans, or 18.1% of the population, making it the most commonly diagnosed mental illness in the country.
Many people who experience anxiety have more than one of the above, so some of those statistics overlap. However, it is easy to see how pervasive an issue like anxiety is – nearly 1 in 5 people struggle with it regularly. Anxiety disorders develop from a variety of compounding factors, including genetics, brain chemistry, personality, and life events.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a fairly common disorder that affects a person’s ability to remain focused and control impulsive behaviors. Those with ADHD might find themselves feeling restless and have a near-constant urge to be active and moving. Although it is frequently diagnosed in children and adolescents, ADHD can continue well into adulthood, along with problems such as inattention, disorganization, and poor impulse control.
At Legacy Primary Care, we are pleased to offer treatment options for those with ADHD. Whether you are a parent concerned about your child’s behavior and symptoms, or an adult who feels like this description sounds all too familiar, we are here to help. Living with ADHD can be challenging, regardless of the severity.
Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy
Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is used to treat both men and women experiencing imbalances or drops in their naturally-occurring hormones. Hormones are responsible for most of your essential bodily functions, so when they are disrupted in any way, cascade effects across all your systems can ensue.
Symptoms that are common with menopause such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood changes, memory loss, weight gain, sleep issues, and low libido can be dramatically improved with BHRT. For many other conditions, BHRT can improve vitality, energy, mental clarity, mood, weight loss, and even muscle strength!
BHRT comes in several different forms, and at Legacy Primary Care, we carefully take into consideration your symptoms, medical conditions, and history before making a recommendation for a specific treatment.
Cardiovascular Health
One of your most vital vital-organs is your heart. Without it, the oxygen brought in by your lungs would not be carried to other organs, like your brain. Your body would have a challenging time fighting off infections and viruses because your blood is also responsible for delivering white blood cells where they are needed. Under our compassionate and thorough care, you can rest easy knowing we take every step we can to help you stay as healthy as possible. If you would like to improve your cardiovascular health, call our office at (214) 618-9715 or book an appointment online.
What Is Cardiovascular Health?
Cardiovascular health is the health of your heart and blood vessels. The prefix, cardio-, refers to the heart, while -vascular refers to the blood vessels. Together, these two make up your circulatory system, which is responsible for pumping and moving blood and oxygen throughout your entire body.
Concussion
Concussions can be serious, life-altering injuries that can be hard to detect. If you have experienced a concussion, it is important to monitor your symptoms, even after the initial incident, as post-concussion symptoms usually don’t appear until 2-4 weeks after the concussion. Common symptoms include brain fog, headaches, dizziness, fatigue, and sensitivity to light. If you experience these symptoms, it is important to seek medical attention at your closest Emergency Room.
Once the possibility of a brain bleed or other major health issue is ruled out, you will want to make an appointment at our office. Here we can conduct a thorough neurological exam that can point out exactly which parts of the brain have been damaged and our highly skilled team will be able to offer you treatment options based on your specific needs and condition. Common treatments we use include functional neurology, physiotherapy, low-level laser therapy (LLLT), vestibular rehabilitation, and chiropractic care.
Depression
A clinical diagnosis of depression covers a rather wide range of mood disorders that can vary in how they manifest and affect the patient. If you have been diagnosed with depression, or if you are struggling with symptoms of depression, Legacy Primary Care is here to help. Our compassionate staff understands that living with depression can be exhausting, and we want to not only treat the symptoms but help you, as a person, feel your best.
Depending on the type of depression and the cause, there are numerous treatment options we can explore to determine the one that will work best for you. Every person is unique and what works for one patient may not work for another, so we always consider the whole person before deciding how best to help you.
Diabetes
Diabetes is a common health concern that can alter a patient’s lifestyle and quality of life.
Here at Legacy Primary Care, we specialize in treating patients with diabetes and helping them manage their condition to best experience a happy and healthy life. Whether you are experiencing chronic fatigue, frequent urination, or suspect you may have nerve damage, we are here to help.
We provide diagnostic testing and various treatment options to help our patients manage their blood sugar levels.
Electrocardiogram (EKG)
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 600,000 people in the United States die from heart disease each year, making it the leading cause of death for both men and women. Noting this, medical professionals often suggest that their aging patients or at-risk patients take an electrocardiogram, or EKG, test to check for signs of heart disease.
EKG tests are non-invasive, painless, safe and fast, and they help our doctors check things like heart rhythm and blood flow as well as diagnose previous heart attacks or anything else that seems abnormal. In the best case scenario, the EKG test confirms good heart health. However, if we see something abnormal, we will likely send you for further testing to get an idea of how to best treat or manage the issue.
High Blood Pressure
High blood pressure can be a dangerous condition as those who have it typically do not display symptoms. While those with high blood pressure may not experience any pain or discomfort, their condition could still be life-threatening.
Here at Legacy Primary Care, we are proud to provide services to best identify and address this issue in our patients. We can help you make the necessary lifestyle changes and prescribe medication to aid in the management of your condition and prevent stroke, heart attack, or other health complications.
High Cholesterol
Whether you have high cholesterol due to heredity or poor lifestyle habits, having routine cholesterol checks is important. Not only does this help to establish a healthy lifestyle, but also to help prevent other health complications such as a stroke or heart attack.
Here at Legacy Primary Care, we are here to help you maintain your cardiovascular health through routine examinations and blood testing. We will work with you to help establish healthy lifestyle and eating habits so that you can have a healthy heart and a healthy life.
Insomnia
Do you have difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, returning to sleep, or a combination thereof? If so, you may be experiencing insomnia, which is the most common sleep disorder in the United States. As many as 40 million Americans suffer from it every year. Although it can affect men and women and children of all ages, it tends to be more prevalent in women and older adults.
Acute insomnia occurs suddenly and briefly, lasting from one night to a few weeks, and is often due to a particular circumstance, such as an upcoming important or stressful event.
Chronic insomnia, on the other hand, is when you have sleep trouble falling, staying, or returning to sleep at least three nights per week for at least three months straight.
Additionally, there are two types of insomnia: primary, which means it isn’t linked to any other health condition, and secondary, in which the insomnia is a result of another condition such as asthma, depression, arthritis, cancer, heartburn, pain, medication, or substance use.
Men’s Health
At Legacy Primary Care, we provide comprehensive men’s health services while making you feel at ease and comfortable with your body and any health concerns you may have.

What are the biggest concerns regarding men’s health?
As a group, men tend to avoid discussing their health or any concerns they have with anyone, including their doctors. However, putting off physical exams and preventive screens can allow underlying conditions to progress if left untreated. As men age, there are several common conditions that men are at higher risk of developing and they include:
- Colon cancer
- Diabetes
- Heart disease
- Hypertension (high blood pressure)
- Liver disease
- Low testosterone disorders
- Prostate cancer
- Stroke
Though some conditions increase risk with age, it is important to receive regular medical care regardless of how old you are.
Migraines
Migraines are a recurring kind of headache, usually affecting one side of the head and characterized by their severity. They often have unique symptoms like sensitivity to light and sound, nausea, weakness, and visual anomalies like arcs of light. These symptoms are usually exacerbated by movement, and many find some relief by laying in a dark, quiet room until the migraine subsides. Afterward, during a period called the “postdrome,” you may feel exhausted, weak, and even confused for up to a day.
There are 4 main factors that contribute to the onset of a migraine: Hormonal, Nutritional, Musculoskeletal and Neurological. These 4 factors encompass several known triggers that can vary widely from one person to another.
Narcolepsy
Narcolepsy is a chronic sleep disorder in which the patient experiences overwhelming and uncontrollable daytime drowsiness, either with or without cataplexy (sudden loss of muscle tone). Unfortunately, there is no cure for narcolepsy, but at Legacy Primary Care, we can help you manage your symptoms through the use of medication and recommended lifestyle changes.
Additionally, those with narcolepsy often suffer from other sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, and insomnia. Although the exact causes of narcolepsy are still not well understood, it is likely due to a combination of factors including brain chemistry or genetics.
Natural Thyroid Management
The thyroid is a small, butterfly-shaped gland located at the base of your neck below the cartilage known as Adam’s apple. As part of the endocrine system, the thyroid produces two main hormones: thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). These two hormones influence every single cell in your body. From how your body metabolizes fats and carbohydrates, to temperature regulation and heart rate, to the production of protein – thyroid hormones are center stage.
Two primary problems can occur with your thyroid – overproduction of thyroid hormones called hyperthyroidism, including Graves’ disease; and, underproduction of thyroid hormones called hypothyroidism, including Hashimoto’s disease. In most cases, thyroid problems can be well-managed when properly diagnosed and treated.
Sleep Apnea
Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder where a person stops breathing throughout sleeping often occurring repeatedly. Many people may be unaware they even have it, especially if you sleep alone. Signs you may have sleep apnea include frequent snoring and waking feeling tired, even after a full night’s sleep. At Legacy Primary Care, we offer treatment for sleep apnea, which can ease your symptoms and reduce the risk of complications.
If you feel that you are suffering from any of these symptoms, or someone you share a room with has mentioned that you do any or all of the above, please call our office at (214) 618-9715 for an appointment. In many cases, a sleep study will need to be conducted before a diagnosis of sleep apnea can be made. Treatment may include the use of a CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure), oral device, or in more extreme cases – surgery to remove or shrink tissue or reposition the jaw.

Vertigo
Vertigo is a sensation of dizziness or feeling off-balance often caused by inner ear problems such as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), Meniere’s disease, vestibular neuritis or labyrinthitis. This sensation is commonly associated with head and neck injuries, strokes, tumors, medications, and migraines. It can be difficult to pinpoint exactly why you feel dizzy or light-headed as the root cause of these symptoms can vary case by case.
Here at Legacy Primary Care, we can identify the cause of your symptoms and appropriately address your condition to help you find relief. Treatment can vary depending on your type of dizziness and how long you’ve dealt with your condition, but we can ensure that our team of professionals will be able to help you find relief and improvement in your quality of life.
